After a big New Year’s Eve, there’s no better way to recover than with a refreshing Bloody Mary crafted from the freshest Southern Forests produce. Packed with vibrant tomatoes, zesty citrus, and a hint of spice, this cocktail is as revitalising as it is delicious.
INGREDIENTS
8 large tomatoes (try Bella & Bryn's Produce Stall)
1 Genuinely Southern Forests lemon, juiced
1 Genuinely Southern Forests lime, juiced
1tbsp. horseradish
1 & 1⁄2tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1⁄4tsp. garlic powder
3⁄4tsp. Tabasco sauce
3⁄4tsp. celery salt
1⁄2tsp. coarse black pepper
1⁄3 cup pickle juice (try The Pickled Wife's Spiced Pickled Cucumber)
30ml Rainfall Distillery vodka, per drink
Garnish, to serve
METHOD
In a large pot, add chopped tomatoes with a splash of cold water. Simmer with the lid on for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Into a bowl, sieve the tomatoes to break down the pulp and separate the liquid from the skins and seeds. Chill the juice in the fridge for use later.
In a blender combine the tomato juice, lemon juice, lime juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, pickle juice, and Tobasco sauce and process until smooth.
Transfer to a container and add celery salt and black pepper, to taste. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, at least 2 hours and up to overnight.
When ready to serve, fill each glass with ice.
Add 1 shot of Rainfall Distillery vodka to each glass, then fill the glass with the bloody mary mix.
Stir well, and garnish each glass with your favourite garnish - try an olive, lime slice and celery. Recipe by Genuinely Southern Forests.
