INAUGURAL PINOT PICNIC LAUNCHED

Showcase of Southern Forests' produce and pinot in 2021

The first ever Pinot Picnic will take place from 11 to 14 February 2021, throughout the Southern Forests region of Manjimup and Pemberton. The new event creating opportunities for regional producers to showcase their wares to local and international audiences.

The series of pinot-inspired events will feature premium local food and renowned pinot wines, with deluxe hampers available for domestic, interstate and international destinations.

The Southern Forests Food Council are looking forward to working with organisers to put Genuinely Southern Forests products front and centre with the target audience of foodies and wine-lovers.

Laura Bolitho, General Manager from Southern Forests Food Council says that the events will provide a range of great opportunities for members.

“Our team are thrilled to assist in facilitating a showcase of our incredible local produce and products alongside world-class wines for this new event. The event also providing the ideal occasion to promote our genuinely extraordinary agri-tourism offering while developing connections and supply opportunities for the future,” said Laura. The Southern Forests is Australia’s most exciting emerging wine region and the leading pinot region in WA, known for quality, expressive wines. The region produces boutique, artisanal gourmet produce that are favourites among the world's top chefs and foodies, such as fresh local marron and black truffles. Ash Lewkowski from Lost Lake Wines and president of the Wine Industry Southern Forests, said Pinot Picnic is an opportunity for local wineries and restaurants to showcase their world-class pinot and gourmet fare. “The cool climate and rich soils of the Southern Forests’ produce some of our country’s finest pinot wines - from pinot sparkling through to pinot rosé and of course the region hero, the pinot noir,” he said. “Lovers of food and wine will be able to enjoy an exquisite picnic event matched with local pinot varieties, in the stunning surrounds of Manjimup and Pemberton. Guests can also grab a picnic hamper of our finest local produce to enjoy at home,” said Ash.

Pinot Picnic will launch with a cocktail reception at the RAC Karri Valley Resort on Thursday 11 February, followed by three days of pop-up pinot-themed events. The full program to be announced in the new year will include family picnics, live entertainment shows, sparkling soirées, tasting masterclasses, vineyard experiences and wine-matching brunches, lunches and dinners. The inaugural 2021 Pinot Picnic is a partnership with Wine Australia, Wines of WA, Australia South West, Southern Forests Wine Region, Southern Forests Food Council, Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development, Southern Forests & Valleys Tourism, South West Development Commission, and RAC Western Australia.
