FRESHNESS UNLEASHED: GENUINELY SOUTHERN FORESTS' RETAIL MARKETING CAMPAIGN BRINGS THE BEST OF THE REGION TO PERTH

Tuesaday 4th March 2025

Shoppers are in for a feast for the senses as Genuinely Southern Forests launches its exciting new retail marketing campaign in March 2025, showcasing the freshest, in-season produce from the Southern Forests region.

Hosted at Gilbert’s Fresh Market outlets in Hilton and Midland, this campaign will run throughout March and April, bringing high-quality, locally grown produce straight to customers through in-store cooking demonstrations, tastings, gourmet hamper giveaways, and inspiring digital content.Adding an extra layer of excitement, WA cooking personality and former MasterChef top 10 contestant, Alex Crisp (pictured below), will be hosting two in-store events, creating delicious seasonal dishes that highlight the region’s fresh produce in simple yet creative ways.

Alex is known for her bright and bubbly approach to sharing her love of food, whether through live demonstrations, MCing events, or hosting a weekly food segment on Triple M WA. She is also passionate about ethical sourcing, sustainability, and reducing food waste, with a strong focus on educating the next generation through school programs.

“I am so thrilled to be working with the incredible produce from Genuinely Southern Forests and creating a genuine connection with customers through delicious and simple recipes,” said Alex Crisp.

The campaign will kick off with Alex cooking up a storm at Gilbert’s Fresh Market – Midland on Saturday, 8 March, putting a fresh twist on a veggie staple—the humble yet versatile broccoli.

Did you know? The Southern Forests region produces 90% of Western Australia’s broccoli during the summer months!

The in-store activations will take place on Saturday mornings from 10am-12pm, alternating between Gilbert’s Fresh Market Hilton and Midland. Shoppers can look forward to seasonal recipes, handy cooking tips, and tastings featuring the best of Genuinely Southern Forests produce.

"Gilbert’s Fresh Market shares a passion for genuine fresh local produce and values our partnership with Genuinely Southern Forests, which allows us to showcase and promote the incredible range of high-quality, locally grown produce to our customers," said Charlie, Manager of Gilbert’s Fresh Markets.

The campaign will highlight premium Southern Forests produce, including everyday favourites like broccoli, apples, cauliflower, and pumpkin, as well as lesser-known gems such as feijoas and passionfruit. The spotlight will also shine on gourmet products from the region, including sparkling apple juice, passionfruit soda, honey, truffle products, walnuts, and chocolate.

“This campaign is an incredible opportunity for our food, beverage, and agriculture industry, providing a direct connection between our regional growers and WA shoppers. Genuinely Southern Forests is proud to bring the magic of our region to Perth and looks forward to sharing the incredible produce of our farmers and producers,” said Dr Arthur Wilson, Chair of the Southern Forests Food Council.

Shoppers are encouraged to take the chance to taste, learn, and experience the best of Genuinely Southern Forests at Gilbert’s Fresh Market this autumn!

Genuinely Southern Forests is proud to have Gilbert’s Fresh Market alongside them for their ninth campaign.

Southern Forests Food Council:

The Southern Forests Food Council was founded in 2010 by a group of passionate local producers who recognised that the wealth and abundance of produce grown in the region made it perfect for major food production and agri-tourism. Its role was formalised in 2012 after receiving a $5 million investment from the State Government. The investment is part of a $7 million allocation to the Shire of Manjimup for its Agricultural Expansion Project. The SFFC has received a further $725,000 over two and a half years through the State Government to focus on activities and implement strategies that secure its long-term sustainability and enhance the Genuinely Southern Forests brand.

The Food Council is committed to unifying the area’s world-class and diverse producers to strengthen the region’s economy, build resilience, attract investment and export opportunities, promote regional pride, and create sustainable jobs. It represents local producers, culinary and agri-tourism operators who live and work in what is WA’s premier food bowl, aiming to ultimately establish the Southern Forests as an internationally recognised sustainable agricultural region and culinary tourism destination.

The Southern Forests produces over 50 different types of fruits and vegetables, truffles and boutique produce, dairy, sheep, pork and cattle farms, as well as award-winning wineries and exceptional culinary experiences.  The Southern Forests region is heavily invested in agriculture, with $230 million of agricultural production coming from the region
