WA'S YOUNG GROWERS INVITED TO COME TOGETHER FOR NATIONAL AG DAY

On Saturday, 22 November, Southern Forests Young Growers (SFYG)  are welcoming guests from across the State for a Quiz Night full of fun, laughter, and agricultural pride as part of National Ag Day 2025.

The Quiz Night will be held at Tall Timbers Brewery in Manjimup and is co-hosted by Young Horties, the Southern Forests Food Council (SFFC), and proudly sponsored by Muirs. The event is one of the Young Horties National Ag Day series, celebrating young people working across Australia's agricultural and horticultural industries.

A State-Wide Invitation

The event is a chance for young growers and ag enthusiasts from across Western Australia to come together for an evening of good-natured competition, local food and drinks, and plenty of networking.

The Quiz Night will feature agriculture-themed trivia, prizes, and a relaxed atmosphere that fosters cooperation and collaboration amongst the next generation of farming talent.

About the Southern Forests Young Growers

The SFYG is a newly formed group, led by seven local young farmers buzzing with enthusiasm and ideas for the future of the region. Supported by the SFFC, SFYG officially launches in early November, just in time for their first major event on National Ag Day.

“As young farmers, we’re proud to be part of an industry that feeds people, supports communities, and keeps the country growing,” said Thea Walker, SFYG committee member. “We wanted to host something social, something that brings people together - whether you’re from down the road or up north, this is your invitation to come down to Manjimup, meet some great people, and celebrate what makes agriculture so special.”

National Ag Day is an annual celebration held across Australia to recognise the vital role of agriculture and the people behind it. This year’s theme, “Stand with the Land”, calls on Australians to support farmers, growers, and rural communities that sustain the nation.

Championing a Strong Future for the Southern Forests

The Southern Forests region is known for its premium produce, diverse landscapes, and resilient farming community.

SFFC Chair, Dr Arthur Wilson, said the formation of the Southern Forests Young Growers network was an important step in ensuring the future vitality of the region’s agricultural community.

“Supporting and investing in our young growers is critical to the long-term sustainability of the Southern Forests region. The Council is proud to see this initiative take shape and looks forward to the positive impact these young leaders will have on our industry and community,” Dr Wilson said.
